Honda Pilot Denver Wheel & Tire Options | Kuni Honda

Many people appreciate the box-like appearance of the new and unique Honda Pilot Denver, but is there any purpose to its strange shape? In fact there are a couple of benefits to this box car style of design. The Honda Pilot has more head room for the passengers in the rear than many other styles of crossover SUVs and compact cars. Typically the crossovers have a sloping and shapely design where the hood and roof have an aerodynamic functionality, but that sacrifices a little bit of room for the passengers. The Pilot does not diminish room in its design and in addition to extra room, the cabin is also loaded with comfort features and comfort specific seating. The Pilot is built to handle a bit more than the average crossover and this is where the tires and wheels come in handy. The tires that come standard on the Honda Pilot offer a larger diameter than that of the typical crossover. The next benefits among the wheels is that they are integrated with a variety of technical and mechanical attributes that make the vehicle much safer with each addition.

Honda Pilot Denver Body and Trim Variations
Mainly the purpose of the 2014 Pilot is to provide buyers with a vehicle that will satisfy both the outdoors needs along with the family and individual need of commuting within a city setting. The latest Honda Pilot Denver uses a car platform for its structural design and a larger engine with a raised body which has good clearance from the ground. This makes for a vehicle that is much more capable than the average car but retains the size and compatibility for a more dense area of population. The vehicle is built with the latest designs in mind so it is quite safe and with a unit-body type of frame, the Pilot is more stable in turns and withstanding in collisions. When looking at buying a new Pilot, there are four various trim versions to consider. These begin with the Pilot LX, then the EX, the EX-L, and finally the Touring. Each have additional benefits from its predecessor, however, the engine in all four types are the same and provide the same amount of power. All four of these various types are equipped with the same standards for safety, as well, and that means that some fine uses of electronic safety features are in place across the board.

Honda Pilot Denver Tires and Spare Tire
The LX, which is the most basic model version of the latest Honda Pilot Denver is fitted with a V6 engine. That engine produces 250 horse power and 253 torque at the foot which proves to be more than adequate when it comes to the daily business. If going for a drive in the mountains or to go skiing, this number of horse power shows to be worthy of those travels as well. As far as the wheels are concerned, the Pilot is fitted with a large 17 inch diameter tires which are ready for action. These tires are all-season which are prepared for both the urban and the rural areas as well. The most basic version, the EX comes with the 17 inch, but all of the other trim models above that are fitted with 18 inch tires which have a greater coverage of surface area and are a bit more capability in terms of off road or winter driving. In the cargo area of the Honda Pilot, there is a designated space for the spare tire which is smaller than the rest of the tires so it is not a replacement.

Honda Pilot Denver ABS and EBD
Safety features in the New Denver Honda Pilot are abundant and one of the most appreciated things about the various systems is that they are all automatic. With regular check-ups and maintenance, these safety functions should be performing to standard. A simple and yet very vital feature is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System which has been introduced over the recent years. This system will alert the driver when the tire pressure in any one of the Pilot’s tires drops below the standard required pressure level. This feature is simple but very helpful in preventing accidents. Another important safety protocol is the anti-lock brake system which is used in conjunctions with the Electronic Brake Distribution. The brake force in the Pilot will be distributed evenly among the various wheels while slowing down or using the brakes at any time. This innovative feature ensures that the vehicle is using all brakes in order to slow to a stop at the most effective rate. With these various systems installed in all of Honda’s Pilots, the worry of problems on the road is increasingly diminished with each new model year of the vehicle.

On top of these air bags the Denver Honda Pilot also comes with 4-wheel ABS, electric stability control, brake assist and traction control. Honda Pilot Denver Powertrain
All of the new Denver Honda Pilots, regardless of trim option, come with the same powertrain. They have the 3.5 liter, i-VTEC V6 engine that has a horsepower of 250 and 253 pound-feet of torque that runs through a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Pilot comes standard with front wheel drive however every trim has the option of being ordered in all wheel drive. There is the i-VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) engine that was developed by Honda to improve the volumetric efficiency of a four stoke internal combustion engine. It is the first system of its kind and is much different than the VVT. The VTEC system uses two camshaft profiles and hydraulically selects between the profiles whereas the VVT only advances the valve timing and doesn’t change the camshaft or the valve lift. Although other manufacturers have tried to produce similar systems none come close to the VTEC that Honda has created for more fuel efficiency. The Honda Pilot Touring with all-wheel drive can accelerate to 60mph from a standstill in 8.9 seconds according to Edmunds performance testing.  The front wheel Honda Pilot can make the standstill to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds, which doesn’t make for much of a difference. However, the all-wheel drive option will shift about 70 percentage of the power to the rear wheels if/when the front tires begin to slip. Handling on the Honda Pilot is reasonably crisp and have great maneuverability. The driving position in the Pilot is fairly tall and can take some adjusting if you are not used to “sitting high”. The all-wheel locking system is wonderful for the deep snow or mud. The all-wheel models can tow up to 4,500 pounds whereas the front wheel drive can tow up to 2,000 pounds. Without surprise this cross over SUV is also fuel efficient, the all-wheel drive is 17/24 mpg and the standard front wheel drive is about 18/25 mpg.

Information about the Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver winter driving | Kuni Honda

In the segment of the midsize crossover you have a wide abundance of choices to make. While there are many different models to choose from, and yes some of them do have better performance in one area or another than the Honda Pilot in Denver, when you take a look at the big picture and the overall features and amenities that are packed into the midsize crossovers out there we think you will find that the Honda Pilot is the best pick when it comes to overall bang for your buck. What you get, not just in the Honda Pilot, but in most of the midsize crossover market, is the vehicle of choice when you just aren’t ready to turn in your youth and drive the family friendly minivan, but when you have the kids and the cargo to rate one. What you get, then, with the Honda Pilot is a vehicle that is worthy of the minivan utility status, but is rugged enough for a person of your particular tastes. When style matters, but so does utility, the  Honda Pilot Is an excellent choice. One item of particular interest for our Colorado drivers, though, with any vehicle they are considering, is whether or not that vehicle can handle it self in the harsh winter driving conditions that Colorado can throw at them. So, is the Honda Pilot up to the Colorado winters? Let’s take a look at some of the features that the New Denver Honda Pilot has to offer and find out.

Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver Ample Power
When it comes to winter driving, nothing is more comforting than knowing you have ample power to get yourself out of that snow bank in the parking lot. The Honda Pilot in Denver offers you more than ample power as we can see. Regardless of trim level, all 2013 Pilot models use the same powertrain: a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 250 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque, channeling its power to a five-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but any Pilot can be ordered with an all-wheel-drive system that automatically shifts as much as 70 percent of power to the rear wheels if the front tires begin to slip. A driver-selectable “lock” feature routes maximum torque to the rear wheels in 1st or 2nd gear at low speeds to help free a stuck Pilot. Performance testing saw an all-wheel-drive Pilot Touring accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds, while a front-wheel-drive model did it in 8.3. Both are a bit slower than average. The Pilot’s EPA-estimated economy of 18 mpg city/25 highway and 21 mpg combined for front-drive models and 17/24/20 for AWD variants puts the Pilot in the top portion of its segment. The front-drive Pilot can tow 2,000 pounds and the all-wheel-drive models can tow 4,500 pounds. Towing, power and a smart all wheel drive system make the Honda Pilot a great choice for winter driving. What else does the Honda Pilot have to offer though?

Honda Pilot in Denver Advanced Safety
No matter how well equipped your New Denver Honda Pilot is the winter time is not an ideal time to be driving. What can you do though, work doesn’t get cancelled on account of a little snow and more and more often neither does school. What can the Honda Pilot offer in terms of advanced safety when you have to brave the cold? The 2013 Honda Pilot’s standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. In brake testing, the Pilot came to a stop from 60 mph in 130 feet. This is below average for midsize crossovers but actually an improvement over the braking performance of earlier Pilots. In crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Pilot earned an overall rating of four stars out of a possible five, with four stars for frontal crash protection and five stars for side-impact crashes. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests, the Pilot earned the top “Good” rating for frontal-offset, side-impact and roof strength tests. The Honda Pilot offers you the kind of safety and security that you need for the harsh winters of Colorado. It’s shaping up that the Honda Pilot in Denver is a great choice.

Honda Pilot in Denver an Excellent Choice
The New Denver Honda Pilot is an excellent choice for a Colorado driver who has a family to haul and might encounter some of the more rugged driving experiences that the Colorado winter has to offer. You might be able to get away with a minivan, but when it comes down to it, the style of the Honda Pilot is just in a league of its own when compared to the minivans family friendly but uninspiring styling. We think you will fall in love with the Honda Pilot in Denver once you have had the opportunity to drive one for yourself.

Information about the Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver Interior Features | Kuni Honda

The market for a midsize crossover is nothing if not full of an abundance of choices. Next to the small crossover segment the midsize segment is the most popular in the ever growing crossover market. For the most part the crossover has usurped the minivan and the station wagons positions as the family hauler of choice and in many cases it is a top choice even for those who don’t have not plan to have large family to transport about. This segment is one of the main reasons for such fierce competition in the styling and interior amenities departments in the crossover segment today, and the Honda Pilot in Denver has worked it’s way to the top of that pile with a very generous set of offerings across all of it’s models. This is not out of the ordinary for the Japanese automaker, in fact Honda has been a top seller across all of the categories in which it competes, save for trucks which we will pretend never happened both for ours and Honda’s sake, because of their offerings even in the base models of their vehicles, not to mention the overall quality and dependability that be counted on from any vehicle made by Honda, but especially the New Denver Honda Pilot.

Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver interior space
The first thing you might be interested in if you are in the market for midsize crossover is what kind of interior space the Honda Pilot in Denver has to offer. After all, the Honda Pilot is a top choice for those looking for a minivan alternative to soothe their styling needs. The Honda Pilot has a bit of a boxy look to it, and this is a drawback for some, but what this design allows is for some truly impressive space, not just for the passengers, which there is an abundance of, but for a massive amount of cargo loaded from the rear as well. More roof clearance means more room for those large loads from the big box store or the home improvement mega mart. Cargo can travel very comfortably in the Honda Pilot, but what about your passengers. We mentioned head room, but people still have legs too and all the headroom in the world can’t make up for cramped knees as countless commercial airplane passengers can attest. The Honda Pilot offers a surprising amount of legroom for all of it’s passengers. This includes the third row seat, which is never considered to be a very comfy location, yet in the Honda Pilot it offers a great amount of space, and you really can seat eight.

Honda Pilot in Denver storage space
That is all well and good if you are transporting the whole basketball team to a game, but you are the key element in your driving experience so what does the New Denver Honda Pilot have to offer to it’s owner, who we will assume is the primary driver here. First of all the Honda Pilot offers you a great amount of utility. For instance the Honda Pilot in Denver offers you a ton of storage space in the front. You get the cup holders which are in the right place, this is a big deal people, I know it sounds like a minor inconvenience to have a poorly place cup holder, but knocking over your cup with your elbow is never a pleasant experience. Along with the cup holders, you get enough cubbies and bins to store the entire top drawer of your dresser freeing up some much needed room for socks. You also get a very nice instrument panel to look at. No I’m not talking about the gauge cluster, the instrument panel is the entire area underneath the dash minus the glove box. See you learned something new today didn’t you? The instrument panel of the Honda Pilot uses some very smart tech to cut down on the amount of clutter and reduce the amount of buttons and knobs that were once the scourge of the front area.

Honda Pilot in Denver technology
The technology of the Honda Pilot in Denver is also quite impressive. While there are plenty of technologically advanced options across all of the models in the class the New Denver Honda Pilot shines by making these not options but standard features. You will get, on any model of the Honda Pilot, a hands free bluetooth connection. Not only does the bluetooth let you talk on and listen to your phone via the stereo system, but it also allows streaming so your bluetooth enabled media device can get in on the action and the once littered console which was packed with cables can once again be liberated for tasty snacks and the like. Not only do you get to utilize your own devices to listen to your favorite tracks, but you get to control the action via an eight inch display. The display is larger than many of the tablets on the market. The Honda Pilot is  great choice in the segment for sure.

Information about the Honda Pilot in Denver

2014 Honda Pilot in Denver, Littleton and Parker Body Design | Kuni Honda

The Honda Pilot was the first mid size crossover offered by the incredibly successful Honda automaker, and it still stands well above all of the competition in the mid sized crossover category. We already know the Honda is well known for its reliability, and the 2014 Honda Pilot in Littleton is no different from the rest of the Honda lineup in that respect. We also know that no one else can really stack up to Honda when it comes to resale value either, and again the 2014 Honda Pilot in Parker is no exception to that long standing rule. These are the easy selling points. I am sure that before you did any research on what the Honda Pilot had to offer you were already aware of these facts, but lets forget about these things for just a bit, because these points are really just icing on the cake when you look at everything that the New Denver Honda Pilot has to offer.

Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver

2014 Honda Pilot in Denver, Littleton and Parker Fuel Efficient
First and foremost in the body design of the 2014 Honda Pilot in Littleton you will notice that you have the kind of cargo and passenger capacity that you would normally associate with a much larger and much less fuel efficient full size crossover or SUV. This is due to the very intelligent way in which the 2014 Honda Pilot in Parker was designed in which to take full advantage of all the available space and not to load it down with a ton of trim that serves no purpose but to take up valuable cargo space in your Honda Pilot. The Honda Pilot is a very viable alternative for those who have the size needs of a minivan, but aren’t prepared to take on the style stigma associated with that kind of vehicle.

2014 Honda Pilot in Denver, Littleton and Parker Sleek Styling
The 2014 Honda Pilot in Littleton is certainly function driven, but that doesn’t mean that the design team got left out of the process either. Where traditionally you had the option of a box or a slightly larger box when looking at midsize crossovers the Honda Pilot offers you the kind of sleek styling that you might expect out of a luxury crossover, but without the luxury price. This is the reason the 2014 Honda Pilot in Parker has made such a splash along with all the other Honda models they know that just because it doesn’t carry a price tag larger than years salary doesn’t mean that it can’t look great. The 2014 Honda Pilot in Denver offers large and in charge type styling that in comparable to some of the German models out there. With a pronounced rear end that goes contrary to the current style of sweeping the rear end back, which cuts off much cargo space the New Denver Honda Pilot keeps it a little more level across the roof line and looks great doing it.

2014 Honda Pilot in Denver, Littleton and Parker Cargo Space and Styling
Cargo space and styling aren’t the only considerations in a vehicle’s body design however. Unfortunately, unless you are an engineer or a collision repair specialist you probably have never considered what was underneath the skin of the 2014 Honda Pilot in Littleton. This shouldn’t be the case, because it’s what’s underneath that really counts when you are talking about the safety of yourself and your loved ones in any automobile and the New Denver Honda Pilot is no exception.

2014 Honda Pilot in Denver, Littleton and Parker Brilliant Engineering
If you were to peel back the outer surface of the Honda Pilot you would discover that there is vast network of interconnected pieces that make up the unibody frame work of your 2014 Honda Pilot in Parker. You might notice that where it looks like a single piece of metal would have done there are two or three pieces all welded together. The reason for this is that these pieces of steel are all of different strengths. For example the top portion of the Honda Pilot b pillar is designed out of an ultra string type of steel that acts as a roll cage in the event the the 2014 Honda Pilot in Denver were to roll over. You will find the same kind of ultra strong materials in the intrusion beams in the door. Where you see other pieces welded onto the high strength parts is where the brilliant engineering has done its job and determined that there should be a crumple zone so that the impact force of a collision to your 2014 Honda Pilot in Denver can be spread throughout the body of the vehicle and not the body of its occupants. This kind of engineering in the body of the Honda Pilot is just another reason why you should really consider this top choice in the mid size crossover category.

While the market is full of options when it comes to a midsize crossover there stands no real challengers for the New Denver Honda Pilot. This is the vehicle with the entire package. Let us overlook for just a moment the long history for reliability and the very best numbers when it comes to resale value and just look at some of the raw data. The Honda Pilot in Denver is one of the largest of the segment and it truly is a very fitting replacement for the family minivan without the dorky image that came with it. We are talking about room for eight people in the Honda Pilot. For that kind of capacity your only option years ago was a ridiculously oversized SUV. You also get some very fashionable additions like the different selections of alloy wheels that really bring the large and in charge body style into its full glory. Even the base model of the rugged midsize crossover gets such luxurious features as  automatic headlights, full power accessories, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, 60/40-split second- and third-row seats, an 8-inch center display screen, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a rear view camera and a seven-speaker sound system with a CD player, a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack. What we are really here to talk about though are some of the more advanced and unique exterior features that his lion among crossovers has to offer.

Honda Pilot in Denver Driving Experience
One of my favorite features may not fall precisely in the exterior feature category but because it has to do with the noise from the exterior we are going to go ahead and stretch some definitions here. I am of course talking of the Active Noise Cancellation feature of the Honda Pilot. This isn’t just foam and sound deadening materials in the sheet metal of the Honda Pilot, although that is still present. The active noise cancellation works in much the same way that it does in those expensive headphones that are the favorite item of frequent travelers everywhere. The sound system of the Honda Pilot in Denver picks up on the engine and road noise that is making its way into the cabin via a microphone that is specifically placed for this task. Then using a process that I am not even going to attempt to understand or explain here it uses the speakers of the Honda Pilot sound system to produce out of phase sound waves that somehow counter the noise. Like I said, I have absolutely no idea how it works, but I know that it does, and I am very pleased with the driving experience that it produces.

Honda Pilot in Denver Smart Safety
The New Denver Honda Pilot also features some very smart safety technology to help keep you safe and sound in your Honda Pilot in Denver. The first of these systems is the Forward Collision Warning. Through the use if a small camera mounted to the top of the windshield for vehicles that don’t have the adaptive cruise control or through the radar for those that do your Honda Pilot can detect the presence of vehicles in front of you. If the system determines that you are at risk in a collision it sounds the alarm, quite literally through audible and visual alerts to get your attention back where it belongs, on the road and on the person you may have a collision with if you don’t do something about it. The second feature that works in much the same way id the Lane Departure Warning using the same camera that is used in the collision warning system the lane departure warning tracks the road lines. If you start to swerve or merge without your turn signals indicating that you intended to do so the Honda Pilot gives you a nice alert in the audio and visual range to once again remind you that you are driving a serious machine that requires your attention.

Honda Pilot in Denver Very Smart
Finally we get to an often overlooked exterior feature that is nevertheless very smart and very handy technology to save you both lots of frustration and lots of money. I am talking about the Honda Pilot in Denver tire pressure monitoring system. This system keeps tabs on the pressure in all of your tires to ensure that you are always maintaining the proper pressures. If you dip below the recommended range than you will receive a warning light in your instrument cluster letting you know that you need to check your tire pressure. Keeping the tires of your Honda Pilot at their proper levels doesn’t just save you the expense of having to replace tires due to uneven wear, but it saves you a whole lot of fuel at the pump as well.

Information about the Honda Pilot in Denver

Honda Pilot in Denver Performance | Kuni Honda

The Honda Pilot in Denver was introduced to the public for the 2003 model year. The design was to fill a need in an ever expanding section of the North American market. This sector of the market were those families who required a minivan, but refused to purchase one due to the unpopularity of the particular body style and it’s reputation for being a supremely “uncool” vehicle. This problem was previously solved by the families in question abandoning their vans and wagons for traditional sports utility vehicles. While this would stand for a little while the SUV was not an ideal fit for most of these families. SUVs are not designed, first off, for great handling on the road. They were meant as off road vehicles and therefore carried a full frame and often times longer travel suspension and a higher center of gravity. The last thing you want for your family vehicle is one that is prone roll over when involved in a high speed accident. Secondly, SUV’s were not designed to provide great fuel economy. They were designed to be hard working vehicles and had motors that could provide for this function. So what do you do when an SUV isn’t the right choice and a minivan is just not stylish enough for your cool family.

Honda Pilot in Denver Model Details
Prior to 2003 you couldn’t do much. Sure there were other crossovers introduced prior to 2003, but none of them really provided the cargo or passenger room of a minivan or full size SUV. Thus the Honda Pilot in Denver was introduced to a very eager market that loved everything the mid sized crossover had to offer. While eight passenger seating provided families with the room and the cargo space that they demanded from the oversized SUVs, the crisp handling, responsive engine, and quite nimble handling, similar to that of a traditional large sedan, made the Pilot much more practical for regular city driving. Finally the Pilot would offer above average fuel economy for a vehicle of this size. Provided the much needed fuel savings in conjunction with it;s other features would prove to be a winning combination for the new Honda model. Thus the Honda Pilot would begin it’s life as a crowd favorite, and remain that way today.

Honda Pilot in Denver First Generation
The first generation of the Honda Pilot in Denver is that which we have discussed above. This generation of the mid sized crossover was available with only one engine option, a bit of a downfall in this reviewers opinion, but the powertrain was adequate for most consumers needs. All first generation Pilots were offered with a 3.5 liter V6 that could produce 240 horsepower and generate 242 pound feet of torque. This engine while not being terribly exciting did offer variable valve timing, which did provide a boost to torque on the lower end and overall performance on the higher end of the power band. The Vtec feature is also a great boost to fuel economy. While the Pilot could never compete with the likes of a smaller sedan like the Civic, it could produce up to 22 mpg on the highway, a considerable improvement for a vehicle of this size.

Honda Pilot in Denver Current Model
For the 2013 offering of the New Denver Honda Pilot we again are not left with any options regarding the powertrain. All of the various trim levels are outfitted with a 3.5 liter V6. While it is the same size engine, it has received some upgrades from the first generation. The new V6 offers 250 horsepower and manages 253 pound feet of torque. Not a huge improvement, but at least we can see that Honda is trying in the power department. Fuel economy, likewise has received a boost, albeit a small one. The new generation V6 can make it up to 25 mpg on the highway in the front wheel drive version and 24 mpg highway for the AWD version. Considering that the first model was offered only as an AWD this means a 2 mpg boost, small but still worth consideration for essentially the same motor. Acceleration is a bit underwhelming for the New Denver Honda Pilot, reaching 60 from a standstill in 8.9 seconds for the AWD. This puts the Pilot in the lower portion of midsized crossovers for performance.

 Honda Pilot in Denver Impressions
So, while it may not be the fastest crossover on the block, the New Denver Honda Pilot still remains a top choice among new car buyers. This can be boiled down to it’s all around practicality. Neither performance nor handling are great on the Honda Pilot in Denver, but neither is really bad either. When considering the very plush and comfortable interior, the ample cargo space, and the respectable fuel economy the Pilot still makes sense for many buyers, and is certainly worth consideration.
